Texas Pastel Society's All Member Show

I am entering 3 pastels in the TPS all member show.  The theme of the show is Fiesta, so I looked for pictures with lots of color or of historical nature.

The first is a plein air pastel painted at the Antique Rose Emporium during the March TPS meeting.

The Blue Wall, 9 x 12 Pastel
The second is a colorful picture depicting a crowd headed to a fiesta event.

El Mercado, 9 x 12 Pastel
The third is a picture of the Presidio La Bahia in Gonzales Texas, site of one of the battles of the Texas revolution.

Paint Out at the White Ranch

It was a cloudy, but warm, Tuesday.  The Texas Paint Slingers went out to a ranch about an hour south of San Antonio.  The further south we drove, the more bluebonnets and other flowers we saw.  Bonnie and Roy White, the owners, mowed a path through the field for our vehicles and provided lunch.  Certainly appreciated the hospitality.

Spent the morning painting a field full of bright yellow Tallow-weeds.  This is the first painting of the day.

South Texas Spring, 9 x 12 Pastel

Gray skies and trees just getting their leaves.  After lunch we moved to a different spot.  A large patch of yellow, leading off into the back ground, caught my eye.  Although the weather hadn't changed, I opted to paint a blue sky and a tree with leaves and to extend the yellow off into the distance.  Got a nice tip from Gaye Sekula on curving the road.  That's another reason for joining these outings.  Always learning and always good company.

Two more attempts to portray water.  This is difficult.
